» hello new people!

if you’re unfortunate enough to be a fan both of guardian.co.uk/sport and northern irish indie-rock, drop me a line and i’ll send you some free music. maybe a song or two from the highly exciting forthcoming heliopause album, unreleased panda kopanda, three tales or something by the stupendously good (and nothing much to do with me) tracer amc.
thanks for visiting anyway. hope you find something you like.

hello.
as some of you will know, richard has moved to brighton for the next two years, and i’m thinking of going too.. where this would leave a belfast-based record label is anyone’s guess. panda kopanda are part way through recording a second album (i’ve heard bits and pieces and it sounds amazing); three tales are mostly playing in the robyn g. shiels band, and hopefully that album sees the light of day before too long. jonny ashe made a solo album and we recorded a bit of eisberg & resnick so hopefully something will happen with that.
what i’m getting at is: the heliopause album - now 100% recorded and 99.94% mixed - will be the last thing that furious tradesmen can afford to release, barring huge and unprecedented success. so far, no release has paid for itself, even with the minuscule promotional costs we’ve run up. stupid things like the barcodes (those people send lawyers’ letters to my mother’s house) and web hosting and MCPS (who’ve decided that we do owe them for “join our lusty chorus” after all) add up to way more than we’ve made from record sales.
but the heliopause album sounds great - bits should be on myspace.com/wecomefrombelfast soon - and fingers crossed we can make something good happen with it.

by the way, the best band around at the minute are before machines. i wish to high heaven we had the money to make their album.

jonny ashe (at various times one third of tracer amc, one quarter of tracer amc, one third, one quarter or one fifth of kidd dynamo, one third, one fifth or one sixth of julip, one half of eisberg and resnick, and a small part of, amongst others, the joss mills band and the belfast guitar/drum band with around ten players whose name myspace censors) has made an album. it’s very, very good. you can buy it here: myspace.com/jonnyashe
he put a new song up! cheeky bugger.
